What’s in a lesson?

Standard riding lessons at Ardlussa Equine include every step of the process to provide all riders with a well rounded background so you can feel safe and confident handling horses. Lessons will vary in length from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on your needs and level. Group and private sessions available. We have several well schooled lesson horses to suit a variety of riders (check out our team) or are happy to have riders bring private horses.

Lessons can include a bit of everything or can center on your goals. Focus on your riding position, learn a little dressage, steer through poles and obstacle courses or improve your jumping position through gridwork- we can help!

Virtual Dressage Series

There are privliges that come with being a regular Ardlussa Equine rider. We are happy to present our regular riders with the chance to participate in our virtual three part dressage series. This event runs in several phases split over the autumn and winter season and caters to all levels- even leadline! In lessons, riders are taken through the entire process of learning to ride their chosen test. Use our horses or your own. Year end prizes and a high point trophy given out at our annual client christmas BBQ.

Show Jumping and Show Hunter Training

Semi regular opportunity mostly aimed at our more experienced riders to get some training rounds in during the off season. Smaller heights right down to cross rails available for our most novice riders. Smaller heights also run as show hunter rounds, to prioritize quality and technique over tight turns and speed for those just starting out. Super friendly atmosphere, everyone walks their courses together and cheers each other on. Great chance to get into the Ardlussa Equine team spirit before show season.

Training One Day Events

Run in a multi-day camp format, existing Ardlussa Equine riders are invited to spend a couple of days with us learning how a one day event is formatted, ridden and scored. Mentorship along the way on how to handle and improve upon each phase. This culminates in a full training ODE, with ribbons and spot prizes to successful riders and assistance and coaching throughout

Gymkhanas

Also hosted here at Ardlussa Equine for our riders only. Barrel racing, pole bending, gamblers choice, relay races and more. A great chance for our riders to get to know each other a little better or to spend time with friends. Like most of our events, this one is all ages and all levels. Our horses or your own.

School Holiday Camps

Spring, summer and autumn camps are available both to existing Ardlussa Equine riders and those who have never ridden with us before but want to try it out. Beginner camps are open to all riders, even those who have never touched a horse before, while our more experienced rider camps including ODE camps are open exclusively to those who have ridden with us previously. All camps (excluding trekking days) include a formal riding lesson and an afternoon games/fun ride (bareback is a hit!) and are aimed to provide full days of horse themed fun and learning. Camps are advertised as they are available on our facebook page. Own horses welcome with option to stay overnight as required.

Off Property Horse Shows

If you ride at Ardlussa Equine long term, chances are you’re going to want to join the show team. As part of our team, we help identify the shows that are suitable for you to attend with us, handle the entry process for you, cater lessons towards practice leading up to your event and accompany you to the grounds for an entire days’ worth of show coaching. For those riders who use our horses rather than their own, we take a few of our lesson horses to each outing to provide our dedicated non horse owners with the chance to participate too.
